Biennale Sydney @ Cockatoo Island

The Biennale is a visual arts exhibition that runs every 2 years and this was the first time I had been.  There are exhibits at Cockatoo Island, Museum of Contemporary Art, Pier 2/3, Art Gallery of NSW, Carriageworks.  I caught the ferry to Cockatoo Island from Greenwich since I live on the north shore but there are free ferries to Cockatoo Island from Circular Quay.  The ferry took 9 minutes from Greenwich and cost $11.20 adult return which you have to purchase beforehand at a newsagency.

You can camp overnight on the island or stay in a ‘hotel/apartment’ which is pretty expensive.  There are BBQ and bathroom facilities on the island and even a bar which I will definitely be revisiting in summer.

The exhibits were sprawled out over the island so it took a while to see everything but it was great.

Can’t get more Aussie than the Sydney Harbour Bridge and a meat pie

There are an abundance of food outlets on the island including a stall selling Vittoria coffee.  The views of the Harbour Bridge are spectacular – well worth a visit.  This runs til 16th September 2012 so you’ve got a while to get down there.
