It’s a macaron, not a macaroon.
Let me clarify something that’s been bugging me for a while. Those delicious sweet puffy discs with moist filling are called macarons (one oh). Macaroons (2 ohs) are coconut biscuit things:
I’m not sure why they decided to call macarons macaroons on Masterchef but it’s caught on and people are using the wrong term everywhere.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I have discovered the best macarons in Sydney!! I’ve had macarons everywhere from the Lindt Cafe to the Intercontinental and none compare to these:
The best part of it all is they cost ONE DOLLAR. Yes one dollar. It’s almost ridiculous. You can get 12 for $10. 83c per macaron. Ridiculousness.
I had to try all the flavours, and I had to try them all evenly (OCD? Affirmative).
Now for the bit you’ve all been waiting for: I (and by “I”, I mean my amazing boyfriend) got them from the tunnel at the south of Town Hall station that leads out to George St opposite Event Cinemas. There used to be a Coles Express there on the left where you can now get these. If you hit Wittner/Easy Way you’ve gone a tad too far.
I visited them this morning and bought another dozen (and ate 3 for ‘breakfast’).
